Artist Bio - Lawrence MacLean

Currently living in the Parish of St. Breock but located at Broadmeadows, Lawrence is blessed with glorious views of the Camel Estuary and views towards  Padstow and Rock.  After thirty four years of ministry in the Chruch of England, Lawrence retired with his wife Jacqueline where he ha attached his ancestry back to an 18th century sailmaker from Falmouth.

  During the ten years as Chaplin of Tuscany, based at the English church of St. Mark's, Florence, with St Peter's Siena he was immersed in the fabulous Renaissance art of Florence and the glorious light and beauty of the surrounding Italian countryside. He was later appointed Chaplin of Monte Carlo and was able to experience the same intensity of light and colour on the Cote d'Azur, this has had a profound impact on his journey in painting.

  He maintained his this love of painting and now, retired, he is able to focus on the stunning coastline of North Cornwall, with its working harbours, fantastic  light and 360 degree views equalling that of Tuscany and the South of France. Whilst mainly painting in oils, he has rediscovered his love of painting in watercolours and mixed media.

  In his recent work during the pandemic and onwards, he has been drawn to the working harbours and fishing boats of Padstow, the river Camel estuary in Wadebridge and the local Cornish churches.

  His journey has been influenced by his live of such artists such as Raoul Dufy, John Piper, Marc Chagall, Ian Weatherhead, Robert Heindel and Christopher Johnson.

  His paintings are in private collections around the world including the USA, Italy, Scotland, New Zealand and Monaco.

  How recent exhibition at the Rock Institut ha seen very successful and current world can also be visited at the Mowhay Gallery in Trebetherick, Polzeath. Other works can be viewed on his website and he welcomes commissions via the gallery.

Artist Bio - Andrew Burgess

Andrew studied at Falmouth Scool of Art and has been exhibited extensively across Cornwall before working as an interior decorator for several years, both in Cornwall and London honing his techniques that inform his painting practice.

  Residing once again in North  Cornwall, Andrew draws inspiration from the St. Ives School of Artist's and the rugged beauty of the Cornish coastline. His creative processes are fuelled by long walks and sketching along the coast, where he seeks to capture the ever shifting moods of the landscape. His work spans from the tranquil depictions of calm beaches to dramatic portrayals of storms at sea and land, all seeking to express the diversity of Cornwall's coastline.

  Andrew's practice incorporates oil paint, acrylic and mixed media. His modern, enthusiastic style showcases the ruggedness, vibrancy and ever changing colour palette of Cornwall.  These works serve as visual reminders of the awe-inspiring natural beauty that surrounds him, encouraging a deeper connection to nature in those that view his art.

  His bold and dramatic approach to painting is designed to evoke emotion, Andrew states "I believe that very has the power to awaken feelings, memories, and a sense of wonder. I hope that my paintings can offer a moment of escape and contemplation".

  Whether working in his studio or 'au plain air', Andrew's work reflectance connection between colour, mood and the changing season's within the Cornish landscape.

  Through his artistic journey, Andrew aims to continue to explore the unique charm and character of Cornwall's seascapes and landscapes. He arrives to push the boundaries of his creativity while capturing the very essence of this beautiful corner of the world.

Artist Bio - Kim Fox

Kim is fortunate to live in the enchanting North Cornwall, right on the edge of the breathtaking Bodmin Moor. This picturesque area is renowned for it's stunning natural beauty, where the wild, rugged landscape of the moors meets the serene charm of the local woodlands. These diverse environments serve as a wellspring of inspiration for her artistic creations, allowing her to capture the essence of nature in her work.

  While Kim draws from the moors and wpodlands, her true passion lies with the sea and all its captivating elements. she makes it a point go visit the beaches regulary, immersing herself in the coastal atmosphere to spark new creative ideas for her artwork.  Each of Kims paintings is a unique, original piece, with no reproductions made, reflecting her personal vision and connection to the world around her. She continues to explore various artistic mediums, but primarily focuses on acrylics, which allows her to express her vibrant interpretations of the landscapes and seascapes that inspires her.

JJ Adams

JJ Adams - Artist Bio

The son of a Baptist preacher, JJ Adams emigrated as a child from Plymouth to Cape Town in South Africa in the early eighties. At college he studied graphic design and found his inspiration whilst working as an apprentice at 'Wildfire Tattoos' in central Cape Town, he eventually returned to the UK in 1998 where he furthered his interest at Plymouth College studying Art and Design.

He worked as a freelance graphic designer and sign maker before finally braking into fine art, he uses a range of mixed media in his work ranging from spray paint, hand painted acrylics, screen printing and digital matte painting and photography and has quickly become one of the UK's most talked about artists.

Monica is a self-taught 3D and digital artist, constant!y inspired by her hometown and the UK's southern art capital Brighton.

  A mother of two young girls, she uses whatever free time she has spare sketching, photographing or manipulating her works using 3 dimensional digital mapping and layering techniques.

  Drawing passion and muse comes from a wide variety of artistry she feels equally at home adoring the great masters as she does favouring the work of the greatest traditional terrorists of our time.

  Monica says she tries to let her artwork speak for itself but loves crazy patterns, ink culture and paintings that are older than the houses they hang in. If I'm not designing tattoo flash, I'm making my own comic book designs in my spare time.

Dale Bowen

Artist Bio

Dale Bowen was born in Staffordshire in 1963, and now paints from his studio in Dorset, he studied art at Newcastle college and is also a master potter . He worked for Wedgewood for over 15 years working in the Prestige Department, there he made many one-off pieces for commissions and the collectors market with some fetching over £100,000.

  When painting he likes to use a variety of mediums, feeling the need to experiment and master as many methods as possible. He works from rough sketches or photographs as a varied approach allows for more a creative approach, even observations and conversations act as a source for the process.

   Although working in the clay industry for so long Dale says it's the joy of painting that is his first love, and the reason why he keeps returning to the canvas.
